Sylvia

Sylvia is a warm and empathetic therapist, with over 20 years’ experience in Mental health, both in the NHS and in private healthcare.

Starting her career in 1999 as a mental health nurse in the NHS and progressed to train in several different therapeutic approaches. These include cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR), compassion focused therapy (CFT), Acceptance and commitment therapy (CFT), Schema Therapy and Mindfulness.

Accredited as a CBT therapist with the BABCP and an accredited practioner with the EMDR association. With specialist interests in attachment, PTSD, and complex trauma.

Sylvia will collaboratively work with you to formulate your difficulties. Providing an open, non-judgmental and safe environment. Working with you to alleviate emotional distress, negative thoughts, resolve unhelpful behavioural patterns, and teaching you to increase coping skills and learn to effectively manage emotion in the long term.

This may be done by an individual therapy approach or with combined therapy approaches depending on the formulation.
